The scenery is just beautiful. But quite a foggy morning and overcast day, so photos don't do it justice. We stopped at Wyman Lake for lunch, which was quite lovely, but couldn't get down to dip our feet in the water.
Back on the road again, driving through little places like Solon until we came to Skowhegan where we took the South 104 through Waterville and onto the huge highways again into the state of Massachusetts. Stopped at a Salisbury Tourist Info place about 45mins out from Boston and met Mark. Lovely man who's a huge Croc Dundee fan - could recite whole scenes from the movie! After a while .......... we got some information re accom, and Mick took the reigns to find us a place in Cambridge. For some reason, don't ask me why, I just had a look at the reviews of this place on trip adviser. All we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you to all the people who took the time to write! We stayed in their car park and Daz then found a B & B in Cambridge as well which we took. Hitting the Boston area around 6ish was an experience with the traffic, but got through it, found our place and I think by that time if they'd said it was $1000 a night, we would still have taken it! We were all pretty tired, oh except for Luanne, who slept most of the day ... say what Lu? Haha!
Anyway, a great funky spot Cambridge is, in the University precinct, full of share accommodation. Loads of restaurants and bars, so grabbed some takeaway a couple of bottles of red, and relaxed back at the Water Lily. Staying here a couple of nights, so we're all looking forward to what Boston has for us!

Wow, busy day on the road, with lots of interesting people along the way. Time to relax and give Boston a shake!! Maybe have a tea party?? Sounds like you were very happy to finally get to your B&B, hope it all goes just as well for your days ahead in Boston. Keep up the blogging. Love Pam and Vernon
ReplyDeleteIt looks different to Canada doesn't it? We had the girls over for tea last night, missed you here but chatted about your trip. Happy Fathers Day to the men on your trip. Where will you be on Sunday? Love T & G xx
