After that we found our way to the Red Rooster restaurant still in Harlem, but definitely not like our Red Rooster in Oz! This was a soul place to eat, for sure, and the photos don't do it justice, but if you can go on Facebook and see the video, it gives a much better interpretation of the feeling of the place. Fantastic band, great service and food, great company and atmosphere, we were truly lucky to have had these experiences in Harlem!
We left the restaurant and a rally was taking place. Not exactly sure what it was all about, but plenty of police around to keep things in order. It seemed pretty peaceful whilst we were still there.
Headed back into Manhattan where we split up a bit to do our own thing. The last day of Jason Day in the golf was on, so John and Mick found the sports bar to watch that, and Anne and I walked what must have been another 10km around the blocks doing a bit of shopping! Had a well deserved beer back with the guys a couple of hours later! Sandra and Paul caught us up,had a quick drink and then on to dinner. Where do we go? Ben's Restauraunt on W38th of course! We were up for some NY Kosher and we weren't disappointed! A great diner, huge meals, and fab service - as always really in the States. Another funny night and way too full! Got the bus back home and ready to crash after finishing this lovely glass of red we picked up from a crazy wine shop, where the attendant was prepared to open the wine bottle and let us taste it in the shop! If we didn't like it, we could return it to him, no doubt he'd drink it later, and we could buy something else! Only in America! Anyways, it's quite drinkable, so old mate misses out tonight haha! Good night brothers and sisters xxoo

What an absolutely amazing experience you've had in Harlem, to get so close to the real people and to participate in all the ceremony and music which came with it. We are so jealous and will have to put this down on our wish list!!! Keep up the relentless pace you've set for yourselves, we're loving it. Love Pam and Vernon xxxx
ReplyDeleteThis looks just like what you see on Law & order! The streets and house I mean, I would love to go to one of those Churches, they really get you caught up in it, don't they? Can we expect to see a couple of converts when you get home? XX T & G
