Our first stop then was the Hershey Chocolate Factory. What a blast, but probably not the best time to go on a public holiday! So many people and excited children, as you can imagine. We went on a ride through the processes from the cocoa bean to the end product, and as you can see John was enthralled! It was good to see for sure, and the whole surrounding area of Hershey, yes the town is named after the founder, is chocolate/cocoa orientated with names like Cocoa Hotel, Crunchy Street, Milkbar Street - you get the gist.
We then drove through the lovely little Amish towns of Bird in the Hand, Weaverton and believe it or not, Intercourse. We went to a furniture store and had a good look around Intercourse.
We then got onto highway West 30, crossed the Susquehanna River and headed past Wrightsville, Hallam, York and onto Int highway 83 South into Baltimore, Maryland!
Arrived at our lovely hotel, checked in and headed downstairs where the U.S. women's boxing Olympic trials are being held over the next few days. Wow, pretty unbelievable to see up close, so good luck to those women who get through. Only one woman from the 3 divisions get selected, so it's a pretty tough gig.
Went for a stroll down to the harbour where we had a nice tapas dinner, and was informed of the sad state of affairs with tourism in Balitmore at the moment, due to the recent rioting. It's only going to
get worse come October, and then there will be a 10pm to 5am curfew! Businesses are closing, things aren't good. It is relatively quite here, needless to say, and we're probably 6 of the 50 Caucasians here! Plenty of sirens to be heard, that's for sure!
Here we are at Hershey's!

Pam presumes you will offload a set og gold clubs and bring home 20kg of Herseys chocolates (even if John is the sad person in the photo!!), she thinks his generosity giving her lots of chocolates will put a smile on his face? Good to see you had fun in intercourse....or something like that??!! Keep up this sensational blog. xxxxx Pam and Vernon
ReplyDeleteI passed that comment on to John re swapping golf clubs for chocolate, and it's unprintable what his reaction was haha! Sorry Pam, looks like you'll have to plan a trip to the factory! Xxoo
