Off to Quebec City

I've missed a night here, so will try and catch up a bit.  We did a bit of driving and got to Brockville where we found a good little hotel at  which Anne was able to get a seniors discount on for us which included breakfast haha! We just had takeaway in the rooms and crashed early after a couple of wines! Needless to say, when we went to brekkie there were a few oldies around, but they gave John some info on where they'd been before around here, and where they were going.
We took off about 9am and down the road a bit, realised it was going to be Daryls birthday in Aus pretty soon, so had to get off the highway and celebrate, of course! Found a wonderfull little place called Morrisbridge and went down by the river where you could see America on the other side! Absolutely beautiful and we all said we could easily live here. We had a couple of beers and a CC and coke, a bit of a look around and then some lunch before we headed back on the highway towards Quebec. So in the space of 3 hours, we'd had breakfast, beers and lunch - woah!
Back on the highway again, we bypassed Montreal, a lot of road works going on there and a few people gave it the thumbs down? So, the guys had booked us into a B & B at a place on the river at Trois Rivieris called Auberge Gite Le Fleurvil. We found it quite easily and slipped into French style streets and homes. Just beautiful. We dropped our gear, had a drink around the pool, and went off to look at this lovely little town.
As those of you who have travelled into the province of Quebec, it's predominately French speaking, so all of the signs are in French of course too. Thank goodness for the Internet and English/French dictionary sites!
Had a good look around Trois Rivers, a drink in a bar, then on to our host Yves (male) recommended Italian place, for dinner, which was lovely - huge meals! All day we celebrated Daryl's Australian birthday, and then like Groundhog Day, it will happen all again tomorrow over here!
After brekkie we're heading into Quebec City for a couple of nights, which we're all looking forward to.
Don't know what happened with my pics as a bit out of order!

On The Back Roads

We left our lovely hosts Janet and Jim and tried to find a native Indian Reserve, but got lost a couple of times then time was running out for the guys to get to golf! That was a shame, so in amongst our many enquiries, Daryl and Luanne posed by the closest thing possible as you can see by the below photo. A bit of a lazy day today which has been great, caught up on washing, shopping and pampering by us girls. The guys enjoyed golf and in amongst great shots were lucky enough to encounter a ground hog! Say what? The guys enjoyed golf and in amongst great shots were lucky enough to encounter a ground hog! You know what I'm saying right?
A lovely B & B goodbye

Getting close?

Totally lost and Daz and Lu still
Looking, looking!

Anyways, picked them up then headed to Brockville. Stayed in a great little hotel and then off to ??? today.

Heading East not West!

Packed up and said hooray to Toronto and joined the traffic on the highway. Not really what we had planned on doing, so took a detour off onto a more scenic route and this was much better. Went through some lovely little towns and past some beautifully kept homes.  Stopped at a little place called Wicklow Beach and had lunch, dipped our toes in the water - no swimming yet! Brrrr.
Unfortunately had to get back on the highway to get to a place called Plainfield as golf was booked! And we were running late now - heaven forbid! We actually ended up in the wrong little town, but eventually found our B and B called Savery House - which was just lovely. As we were a couple of hours late, our gorgeous host Janet, left is a note to make ourselves at home. We weren't going to bother with golf, as couldn't get 18 holes in, but Mick insisted so they played 9 and us girls reluctantly waited at the 19th after shopping in the pro shop! Couldn't waste the opportunity could we?
Had a wonderful dinner at the Boat House, a couple of nice reds and flopped into our comfy beds at Savery House. Unfortunately they were booked out for another night,  but our lovely hosts Janet and Jim, are a wealth of knowledge of course, so pointed us in the right direction for another great place to stay.
Better race off now as definitely going to get 18 holes in at Black Bear Ridge Golf Course today!

On to Toronto

Well we checked out of the Radisson and caught a cab across the border to collect our hire cars from Buffalo. No dramas getting through at all.  Got the cars, which are great, and then headed to Walmart of course, to get some supplies. Went back across the border into Canada, no problems at all, and collected all of our gear from the hotel.  Everything fits in between the 2 cars, just great plus one couple in one car and two couples in the other.
We then headed off to Toronto which was quite an ordinary trip, as we were just on a highway all the way, but was only a couple of hours away.  Of course heading into Toronto at peak hour probably didn't make it any easier, but we did in fact find a hotel in Downtown Toronto, with the help of gorgeous Goddaughter Apryl, advising us where about to stay in Toronto.
Well the hotel we stayed in was pretty much like Faulty Towers! What a laugh, but it was clean and close to everything.  There was a Street Performers and Food Festival on which was great.  The streets were closed off and people everywhere! We caught up and had drinks and a meal with Apryl, at a place called Firkin on Yonge, which was fun - some good laughs. We walked Apryl to a street car (tram) where she headed home and went back to Faulty Towers exhausted. Was great seeing Apryl again for sure!
I took some photos on my phone and can't transfer them through at the moment to my iPad so am working on that, so will have to post some later, so don't have much here.
Only staying one night in Toronto, a big city for sure, with plenty of life! Heading off to head west, hopefully play some golf and are staying in a B and B the next couple of nights!

Niagara falls

Had a wonderful day going on The Hornblower which is the Canadian boat that takes you past those beautiful falls, as opposed to Maid on the Mist which is the American one. Red ponchos agains blue ponchos!  We got there nice and early and right up the front to get lovely and wet! So fantastic -  as those of you who have done it know.  Did the walk behind the falls a couple of hours later, which was good.  Thought we'd be able to get a lot closer for some reason, but the roar of the water is deafening!
Filled in the rest of the afternoon doing some shopping whilst the boys tried out a few bars down in the main town area! Ended up having Daryls favourite Tony Romas famous ribs for dinner, then went to see the night lights on the Falls, which was lovely. A really large high mist over the falls today and tonight which made viewing a bit restricted, hence we didn't we do the helicopter flight.  Lots of walking for sure!
Off to get the hire cars today and head towards Toronto!

First Day in Niagara

After a great sleep headed off to explore Niagara.  Super hotel the Radisson is! Great location and can walk to everything! Went down to the falls, of course! Plenty of people as its summer vacation for the kids for a couple of weeks! We went up and had lunch at the Skytower - great views unsurprisingly! Waiting for our lunch the boys had to bring out their competitiveness and have a car race! Daryl won, John got the fastest lap and Mick wasn't sure where to put the tokens! He did catch up in the end though. A game of hoop ball was also had,  that Johns insisting I mention that he won. Had a lot of fun!
Organised our tours for tomorrow then off to see how kind the Casino was going to be to us. A competition between the girls and boys had the girls $400 boys $0 - say no more! Even buying a drink at the bar you can play poker or keno on a screen whilst waiting to be served - unbelievable!
After that it was dinner at Margaritaville! Have to always go in to one of these wherever we are and John could actually order a Beer Margarita - who'd have thought! It wasn't bad either. I had a watermelon one Trish, which was fantastic!
Well plenty of laughs again, a few quiet wines back in Daz and Lu's room - ha! And off to sleep. Looking forward to our tours today.
Sorry, photos a bit out of order but you'll get the idea!

We're here!!

Boys will be boys!

A Long Long Day

Well, we left Aus at 9.30am and had a great flight to LA. A couple of hours stop over before our flight to Chigao.  The terrain was quite different leaving the deserts of LA and getting greener towards Chicago.  Chicago was bigger than we expected! Another couple of hours in Chicago where we had lunch or was it breakfast or dinner, not sure! The flight from Chicago to Buffalo was quick and comfy and arrived about 9pm after going through another time zone! Our Buffalo Limmo driver Dan, picked us up promptly at the airport and after a quick pit stop at the duty free shop crossed the Canadian border hassle free about 9.30pm. Hardly anyone there. Was asked if we were planning on leaving anything behind in Canada and Luanne said if Daryl misbehaved she'd be leaving him. Our border patrol officer actually had a sense of humour!  Got to the Radisson Fallsview Niagara pretty  exhausted after a long 25hours or so since leaving home.  Had  a great day, plenty of laughs and looking forward to a shower and bed!
