Boston

Well we woke up to a hot humid day in Boston after a good sleep! As you'll see from the below photos, Johnny had to come good with the deal the boys made in that if Mick shaved off his mo, John and Daz and to ditch the hair! Well, Daryl did his in Toronto, so it was now Johns turn! Just down from our accom was a barbers, Troy Anthony's, so we ducked in there and the guys there were just great! They, and their customers, thought the wole deal was hilarious, we were strange Aussies, enjoyed the frivolity of it all and we made some new friends! Would have been in their for an hour and cost the grand sum of $20! Daryl got a razor, polish and shine and shared the experience.  Everyone did a fist goodbye??? and off we went to buy sunscreen and a hat haha!
Don't ask me why, but we got on another tour bus, this time a duck, and did a tour of Boston! This one was a goodie, our woman Captain P.J. was a classic, and cracked jokes, was incredibly informative and made the tour much better than our last! We'd never been on a duck before, so it was good to do both the bus through the streets and then convert to a water vessel to go up the Charles River. It was good, as we pretty saw all of Boston!
When we got off, we trekked to the "Cheers" bar, from the TV series, and were well and truly ready for a coldie by then.  It's a great place - very busy, but one staff said it was quiet - would hate to be there on a busy day! We got a seat at the bar, finally, and had an enjoyable couple of drinks. You'll see by one photo, that Magic Mike stuck up the interest of a recent divorcee, so there was a few good sport jokes going around there, as you can imagine!
We walked through some great markets, street performers, then Daryl and the guys said they wanted to go and see the USS Constitution. Soooo ....... you guessed it, us girls went shopping!!! Well, we had a ball, bought a few things, and didn't get locked in or out this time, and met the boys back at the B & B.
When the guys got back, they said they had to show their ID's to enter, but Daryl left his back at the B & B, but the ship was under repair anyway. Mick walked through it, and everything had been removed - guns, masts etc. He wasn't allowed downstairs at all. They did end up having quite a good good chat with a Sailor there, who also said that all of the timber in the vessel was encased in 3 layers of copper, so it all had to be removed sheet by sheet, the timber inspected, replaced if necessary, then recoppered and reinstalled. Huge job. They have to have it all completed to sail in 2 years!
So, we all had a great day, a few quiet drinks, dinner and bed!
Yes, yes, I know you all don't believe or even know why we're having quiet drinks, but we are I promise!

  1. What a busy day, don't know how you could fit all that in!!! Well done, the duck sounds great, good way to see the city from different perspectives! I think the less we say about the haircut business the better....Pam says he has to stay in the USA until his hair grows back...I'd rather not see anymore photos of Johns' naked head...HATS PLEASE!!!! Love to have a beer at the Cheers bar, didn't know it was still operating, better get over there fast. Thanks for all the information, loving it and the photos (most of them anyway) are great. Love Pam and Vernon
